Girls are like apples...

This quote is borrowed from one of my daughter's friends.  I don't know if this young man came up with it or if it's from another source but I thought it was pretty insightful.  What do you think girls?

"Girls are like apples on trees.  The best ones are at the top of the tree. The boys don't want to reach for the good ones because they are afraid of falling and getting hurt. Instead, they just get the rotten apples from the ground that aren't as good, but easy.  So the apples at the top think something is wrong with them, when in reality, they're amazing. They just have to wait for the right boy to come along, the one who's brave enough to climb all the way to the top of the tree."

The problem from the boy's perspective is that sometimes they do fall and get hurt, because sometimes the apples at the top are looking for something—someone—even better. So when boys fall too many times they "learn their lesson" (which they shouldn't learn, but it's hard not to) and get tired of falling and getting hurt. Sometimes the fear of falling comes from falling too many times…

Wow, very insightful! I've been thinking about that a lot, and thinking about how the men in our culture seem to settle for so much lower than they should- this really puts a good perspective on it. Very good thoughts.

I guess the key word there is brave.
